What they actually do is monitor your progress and find a way to exit the deal later on after getting some meaningful profits. An angel investor can be a great source of investment after you have checked with your friends, relatives or other financial institutions. © Shutterstock.com | Khakimullin AleksandrIn this article, I will explore 1) an introduction to business angels, 2) what you can expect from business angels, 3) what angel investors look for, 4) how to raise funding from business angels, 5) where to find business angels, and 6) a conclusion.INTRODUCTION TO BUSINESS ANGELSMost often, angel investors are rich people who fund startups in return for a certain percentage of the company. Some angel investors also play an active role in running the investee business. The return on their investment might be 2 to 40 times what they expect to get in 3 8 yearsâ time. There are angel investors who quietly provide you with just the capital necessary to run the business, whereas others might become active advisors or sit on your companyâs board. There are mainly six different types of angel investors:A virgin investor is one who has not yet invested in any businesses. If a person has not funded a business in the last 36 months, he is known to be a latent investor.Experienced investors who fund businesses solely for the sake of profit are known as wealth maximizing investors.Entrepreneurs are investors who normally invest in a business as an alternative to investing in the stock market, or simply invest for the sake of entrepreneurship.Income seeking investors are those who invest to get a job or extra income.Corporate angels are investors who demand majority stakes in the company if they have to fund it. These are often working in large organizations and companies.Typically, business angels have already made a lot of money through other business ventures. It is also pertinent to note that most angel investors are men 45 65 years old. However, a huge number of investors in the technology sector are relatively younger. How Is a Business Angel Different from a Venture Capitalist?Against common perception, angel and venture investors are totally different from each other. In fact, there are some major differences between the two. For instance, business angels are mostly individuals investing their personal money as compared to venture capitalists who invest on the behalf of an organization or fund. Most often, these organizations use other peopleâs money to invest in your business. Venture capitalists offer investors a chance to create a fund to raise the money to buy shares in a private company. An angel investor may not be able to invest as much as a venture capitalist because the former is using his own money whereas the latter is using othersâ money. Similarly, their capacity to absorb risk also depends upon how much they are able to invest in any startup.Statistics about Business AngelsBusiness angels are the best source of investment if you are looking to obtain company finance of £10,000 to £250,000. They also expect an average annual return of at least 20 30% per annum. In comparison, venture capitalists invest in only 1,500 companies each year whereas angels invest in 55,000 startups on average. Most importantly, angels invested $3 billion (15%) more than venture capitalists in startups last year. Venture capitalists invest in only 0.25% companies that apply for funding. On the other hand, business angels fund 2.5% of businesses they review on average. The total number of qualified accredited investors exceeds 3.9 million people. More than two hundred thousand people invested in startups during the last two years. You must try to reach all of those 200,000 investors because your business is most likely to get funded by an individual angel rather than a group. Remember that less than 10% of angels belong to groups and not all of them are qualified investors as well.WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM BUSINESS ANGELS?Angel investors earn approximately two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) per annum in terms of salary, or their net worth is more than one million dollars. The following lines explain what you can expect from these angels in terms of business investment.Typical Ran ge of Funding: As mentioned above, angel investors invest their own money. The average deal size is around $500,000 regardless of which stage of development your business is in. Most individuals like to invest in telecom, healthcare, information technology, consumer products, electronics, energy and utilities, and similar businesses. A vast majority of investors also like to withdraw from your business after achieving their expected return on investment. It is up to you to propose a strategy that will help them exit without any hassle. Angel investors have many exit options at their disposal, but they also expect you to make the exit easy and profitable for both parties.Return Expectations of Business Angels: The angelâs primary motive is to earn considerable profits by selling his stakes within 3 to 8 years of funding your organization. A startup always incorporates risks and, therefore, they normally expect to obtain a 30 40% ROI (return on investment). However, as compared to a loan, you would not have to return the money to the investor if your business somehow fails. It is also pertinent to note that business angels are entitled to 10% of the companyâs value as well.Contacts and Expertise of Business Angels: Most angels are active participants in investee business matters and, therefore, also bring their wide range of experience, expertise and contacts to a new setup. As a matter of fact, an angelâs resources and insight can become an invaluable asset for any business. They can also use the contacts made during their long career as an entrepreneur to bring more credit and venture capital funding as well as new customers and partners.Personal Relationships between Entrepreneur and Angel Investor: No one can deny the importance of establishing good relations with angel investors. In this regard, open and honest communication with them is crucial for your success. You must only approach those investors who have solid experience in your particular indu stry and structure your business deal in order to meet their requirements. The relationship between you and the angel is a long term commitment where mutual trust plays an important role. Both of you bring your individual qualities, expertise and experience to the table but if you are not honest with each other, you are not going to succeed.WHAT DO ANGEL INVESTORS LOOK FOR?Most angel investors happen to be successful and experienced entrepreneurs themselves. Therefore, they have good insights into the minds of other businessmen who request them to fund their business. There are many things angels look for in a startup, and some of them are explained below.People Involved in the BusinessThe first thing you need to keep in mind that angels do not invest in your business idea, but in the people at your disposal. That is why they like to collaborate with the people who can be vetted or someone that they know. This does not only build mutual trust, but establishes credibility as well. It is always imperative for you to include rock stars with a proven track record in your team, whether it is co-founders or employees. This is because angels work directly with the team, and a good team will help everyone get along nicely.Furthermore, angels scrutinize the leadership or entire management of the new startup. They like to work with a team that has a tremendous record of delivering goals on time and in a cost effective manner. Similarly, they also want to determine whether the management is capable of handling all the responsibilities that are part and parcel of a startup or not. Therefore, if you want to make an impression on angel investors, your team should boast years of experience and credibility. It is your team that actually wins an angel investor, not your idea.Great Business IdeaHaving only a business idea canât help you to get investment from angels. You need to propose a complete and clear business plan in order to leave an impression. You have to put everyth ing in black and white, including the business model, what the potential problems are, what the market is like and how stiff the competition is. Similarly, you should also explain how your product is superior to that of competitorsâ and how the investor himself will make money. You are destined to fail if you do not have a good business plan, and every investor is aware of this fact. However, it is also foolish to think that success is guaranteed only if a business plan is in place. It simply illustrates that there is an opportunity to leverage upon. Also, make sure to vet your plan through crowdfunding, surveys and market research to make your application more authentic.HOW TO RAISE FUNDING FROM BUSINESS ANGELSFollowing is a step by step process on how to raise funding from business angels.Step 1: Identify Your GoalsFirst and foremost, you must clearly identify what your business goals are and what you want from business angels. Decide if you only want them to fund your startup or if you would like them to bring in their expertise, experience and contacts to the board as well. The industry in which you are operating is also important as certain angels are inclined to invest in certain industries. You also have to make them realize that their money will help you achieve your goals and it will be put to good use.Step 2: Do Your HomeworkYou should prepare vigorously before approaching any business angel. It is advisable to make a prototype of your website or products, land some customers and get their feedback before looking for investments. Moreover, try to make your presentation as pretty as possible. Tell a convincing and interesting story and make the investors pay attention to what you are saying. You also have to make an impressive business plan, and financial calculations should be accurate as well. Be prepared to answer unexpected questions and never give an impression that you are losing control.Step 3: Create a Long List of Business AngelsYou will def initely increase your chances of success if you identify angels who are suitable for your startup. You can ask them questions like how much they usually invest, what they look for in a company and what their expected return on investment is. Moreover, you must also concentrate on your industry while pitching business angels because they like to invest in industries they have prior knowledge about.Step 4: Network and Make ConnectionsYou need to make as many connections as possible as a business owner. Some investors decide whether to fund your business or not after reading your plan, but a majority of them prefer applicants that are referred by their friends, relatives, colleagues, peers, business associations and renowned professionals in their respective fields. Similarly, it is also a good idea to regularly attend angel clubsâ meetings and venture capitalist conferences to explore more investment opportunities.Step 5: Be Honest and TransparentIt is difficult to be honest at all times, but this is one thing that really matters. No investor will ever write you a check if he thinks that you are telling a lie. Never try to cover up your dirty laundry, but instead reveal it yourself. Explain everything about yourself to the business angels and never ever hide anything which can create complications if discovered later on. If you are dishonest, you are not only betraying your self-doubt but also setting a bad tone for your relationship with the business angel.Step 6: Always Expect a NoIf you are a business owner looking for someone to fund your company, you will hear ânoâ more often than you will hear âyesâ. However, you must never lose your patience and should always be gracious and respectful to investors. This is important because they are not the only people who could fund your business, and this may not be the last time you are asking for investment. You will raise your esteem in the eyes of an investor if you respond graciously, and sometimes it al so makes them question their decision.Step 7: Choose a Business Angel CarefullyYou should always be careful and choosy when it comes to deciding whom to get funding from. You must get as much information as possible about the angel and why he is funding your business. Similarly, you need to have good idea about his expectations regarding his return on investment. Before getting money from them, find out how much added value they can bring to your business. Always remember that experience and knowledgeable angels with a wide range of connections can help you kick start your business in no time at all.Step 8: Always Inform Your Business Angel about Your Next StepNo matter how your company is doing, you must keep your angel informed about the latest developments. Again, you have to be honest with your business angel. Always inform the angel about your future plans as well as the outcome of those plans. You can use different methods, most important of which are emails, phone calls and w eekly and monthly letters, to contact angels on a regular basis.WHERE TO FIND BUSINESS ANGELSBusiness angels nowadays are young entrepreneurs as well as more traditional businessmen who want to invest in promising and fast-growing startups. There are many places where you can find angel investors. For example, in the USA there are many large angel investment groups in the likes of Ohio Tech Angel Funds, Tech Cost Angels and Investorsâ Circles, etc. You can get a complete list of the largest angel investor groups in the USA on the Angel Capital Association website. In the UK, there are many business angel groups and individuals such as Addidi Business Angels, Advantage Business Angels, Angel Academy and Angel Investment Network from which you can easily get money for your business. Similarly, iNovia Capital, Extreme Startups, and Version One Ventures are some of the top angel investor groups in Canada. There are also a number of business angel groups and individuals working in Austra lia. In this regard, Australianinvestmentnetwork.com is a great website to find business angels in Australia. Similarly, Australian Association of Angel Networks is another great source to look for good business angels. It is also quite convenient to find business angels in other countries such as India, Brazil, and Germany. There might be many angel investor groups and individuals present around you. You just need to do some research, make some connections, and you will ultimately come across an angel who is willing to invest in your business.CONCLUSIONYou can make a big leap forward if you can convince business angels to fund your business. You can raise a considerable amount of money as more and more groups and individuals are willing to invest huge amounts in startups and even established businesses. Similarly, business angels can also provide you financial support after the first round of funding. In simple words, business angels cannot only support you financially but can also offer years of industry knowledge and experience to get your business started and thriving.

Us Labour Market Case Study - 1513 Words
Fedââ¬â¢s US Labour Market Outlook: Tough to Believe? As we pass the midpoint of 2017, it has become blatantly clear that US labour market slack is rapidly diminishing, as measured by the declining civilian unemployment rate. Meanwhile, against this ever-tightening backdrop, the Federal Open Market Committeeââ¬â¢s (FOMC) median forecast for the civilian unemployment rate indicates no further decline during the remainder of this year and a modest drop to 4.2% by 2018 Q4. This baseline outlook is seemingly puzzling, given the FOMCââ¬â¢s overly-pessimistic views about the labour market embedded in earlier economic forecasts. There is a negative relationship between the US unemployment rate and real GDP growth, and this has frequently been referred to asâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Meanwhile, Fed Chair Yellen has intimated that ageing US demographics would suggest a flat participation rate as the best possible outcome moving forward. Critically, this baseline labour supply outlook is also incompatible with an unchanged unemployment rate forecast. The FOMC could, therefore, face questions about the credibility of its estimates, an outcome members will be keen to avoid. There are, however, a number of escape routes for the FOMC to utilise. Firstly, members could aggressively lower their estimate of the natural rate of unemployment, and, secondly, the policy reaction function could be subsequently altered to adjust for the lowered target of this important metric, all other things being equal. Reducing the estimate of the natural rate of unemployment would suggest the economy is currently further away from full employment than originally envisaged. The policy reaction function could, therefore, be adjusted with a dovish tilt, particularly if inflation continued to undershoot the FOMCââ¬â¢s 2% target. Forward guidance to interest rate normalisation would subsequently require revision. Meanwhile, the reluctance of the FOMC to lower their estimate of the unemployment rate or change the policy reaction function from its current hawkish tilt has the hallmarks of a central bank being locked into a somewhat dogmatic path of interest rate normalisation, at least for the time being. Sex Change Free Essays
The issue of sex (besides being a national obsession) is reasonably interesting from a psycoanalytic and existential perspective. A lot of what drives us is sexual energy (in line with what Freud told us). This so-called energy isnââ¬â¢t explicit, but if you stop to think about questions like ââ¬Å"Why am I here? â⬠the ââ¬Å"Iâ⬠refers to you as a being and your sexuality is intimately tied with that. We will write a custom essay sample on Sex Change or any similar topic only for you Order Now That ââ¬Å"Iâ⬠differs quite radically based on whether you are male or female. From a purely reductionist perspective, we are simply ââ¬Å"ugly bags of mostly waterâ⬠(to use a phrase from Star Trek) for our genes. The main reason we have sex is so our genes can last. The reason that thereââ¬â¢s sexual dimorphism (as opposed to having only females reproducing asexually) is so the gene pool can be enriched and it is thus capable of withstanding sudden changes in environment. This is actually the reason why there is sex in the first place, but having dimorphism means having a gene pool (thereby phenotype) thatââ¬â¢s more varied. The sociological perspective is somewhat interesting, but I think itââ¬â¢s very irrelevant. In the end, the psychological (perhaps biological) dominates and therefore it it is the one I will consider. I have always wondered what it would be like to be female. I have wondered what it feels like to experience the menstrual cycle each month, to give birth, etc. My perception of what ââ¬Å"Iâ⬠consitutes would be radically different, I assume, notwithstanding the sociological consequences of becoming female. Human males and females are pretty different in their genetic makeup, given that an entire chromosome present in males is not present in females (and this doesnââ¬â¢t even address the issue of expression). This brings us to the interesting fact that a lot of textbooks quote: chimpanzees and humans have DNA which is more than 99% identical. I wonder what the basis of their comparison is, but I digressâ⬠¦ A few decades ago, the above sort of thinking wouldââ¬â¢ve been mere speculation. Existentially speaking, we are prisoners of our bodies and this sucks. But we humans, being the creatures with superior intellect (yeah, right), have taken control of our environments and now it is possible to reasonably answer some of the questions I ask above in a physical sense. I read an article (parts of which are reproduced here without permission) about this dude who underwent a sex-change operation to be female because he wanted to be a lesbian. He was considered a womaniser, but he really identified with girls and expressed his sexuality by cross-dressing, etc. But after a while he began the process of change. He took females hormonesââ¬âthe most effective blend being premarin, derived from the urine of a pregnant mareââ¬â-to produce breasts, greater sub-surface fat, diminished muscle mass and less skin oil than a man normallly secretes. However, hormone treatments cannot shrink the Adamââ¬â¢s apple, alter the hips, or raise the voice; male vocal chords are irreversibly developed by adolescence. He also underwent a lot of sartorial changes as well. Finally the irreversible operation known as ââ¬Å"neo-colporrhaphyâ⬠, or ââ¬Å"new vaginaâ⬠, was performed on him. Contrary to popular myth, this two-and-a-half-hour surgery does not involve the penis being cut off. It is instead emptied of its spongy tissue and, like the finger of a rubber glove, turned inside out. The skin of the penis is gently pushed into a cavity formed by separating the lower abdominal muscle fibres, and this inside-out formation becomes the vaginal lining. The scrotum is used to create the frontal lips of the vagina; some of the skin at the base of the inverted penis can be surgically sculpted to look like a clitoris. Enough of the urethra is preserved from the penis to tunnel it under the tissue and place it in the female position. (There was a reasonable discussion during the Beer Social here regarding the logistics of such an operationââ¬âin particular the issue of providing lubrication was thought important. ) According to John Money, a professor emeritus at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, whoââ¬â¢s an expert on this procedure (I can see a lot of demand for it): ââ¬Å"The majority of transsexuals no longer have the spasmodic sensation that comes from squirting out semen. They have, instead, more of a spreading glow that is very satisfactory indeed. â⬠This dude (now dudette) is also married with kids and they still call her ââ¬Å"daddyâ⬠. She and her wife get along very well and they find the relationship physically very satisfying. While I share a lot of the philosophy that prompted him to become a transvestite, I doubt if I would undergo such an operation. Perhaps if technology advances so that it can be done in a ââ¬Å"perfectâ⬠way, but approaches like this somehow donââ¬â¢t grab me. This isnââ¬â¢t the only way to go. If youââ¬â¢re female, you might contemplate becoming male. I read a while ago about how a female had an operation to have a penis implant. Such physical moves seem very drastic to me, even given what I said earlier about sexual energy driving us. Is the artificial physical change necessary in order to experience a female (or male) existence? While the reason for contemplating what it is to be female is mostly curiousity, it might have to do with my nurture as well. It is said that transsexuals are unhappy with their identities and that they seek an out, but will a physical transformation help them? Shouldnââ¬â¢t reconcilation of oneââ¬â¢s identity with oneââ¬â¢s self, and transcendence of that identity beyond societal norms, be enough? If you are Cartesian (and to some extent I am), it should be. Maybe Freud was completely off about the Oedipus complexââ¬âmaybe itââ¬â¢s something akin to the Penis Envy thing he proposedââ¬âthereââ¬â¢s some sort of a Vagina Envy among males. Thanks to modern science, this envy can be sated. The surgery costs about $11,000. If you include other plastic surgery such as a nose job and breast implants, the total cost is about $25,000. Now to raise some moneyâ⬠¦ How to cite Sex Change, Essay examples

Desease Bachelorâââ‰â¢s of Nursing
Question: Describe about infectious disease in bachelors of nursing? Answer: Measles also called as morbilli, rubeola or red measles, an extreme infectious disease caused by measles virus. Measles is mainly an infection which generally causes to children and this disease can be averted by vaccination. The symptoms of this disease include sore throat, cough, inflamed eyes, and fever, running nose and red rashes on the skin. Although the rates of death is falling of this disease but then also every year this disease kills more than 100,000 people and mostly children who are under the age of 5 years. As the vaccination rates is increasing, so the disease is not spreading widely. Hepatitis B is a sort of liver infection. This type of disease mainly does not have any symptoms so this type of disease is not easily diagnosed. Hepatitis B can be both critical and chronic. This type of disease affects the liver so much that it leads to liver failure, liver cancer and also death. Hepatitis B can be easily spread through sex. People are vaccinated at their young age to prevent them from this disease. The first stage of preventing yourself and others from this disease you have to keep yourself and everyone updated about the knowledge of these disease. Measles is circulated mainly through breathing because it is an airborne disease. It mainly catches by sneezing and coughing, tissues when it is soiled with nose and contacted with hands. It enters within a person within 30 minutes after coming in contact with the effected person. In Australia during the time period of 1960s almost everybody suffered from the disease in their childhood and for that people who born during that time in Australia are already immune to this disease. After the vaccination was introduced it started and the disease started affecting people of average age. The symptoms of this disease are cough and cold, fever, photophobia etc. The symptoms easily worsen the health of the person in 3-5 days (Maltezou, Wicker, 2013). By 2013, in Australia it is seen that there is interruption in spreading the disease. Mostly in Australia cases of these disease is import related. After 1997, in the year 2012 there was the largest outbreak of the disease and mostly it was imported from Thailand. Many people of this country got affected with this disease while coming back from Indonesia. In counties like Japan, Israel measles widely broke out after 2005 (Taddei, Ceccherini, Niccolai, Porchia, Boccalini, Levi, Bechini, 2014). World Health Organization had decided that by 2013 they will be eliminating the disease from all over the world by 2015. But in that year it suddenly broke out in countries like U.K and Germany and gave a threat to the eliminating plan. In England by the year 2013 the highest number of people got affected by the disease. In USA the vaccination rates of measles is high but then also measles is a harmful childhood disease so it is advised to every parents that they should vaccine their children during the right moment and it might help in stop spreading the disease. In 2014, four children in a family got affected by measles and none of them were vaccinated and during that time measles was highly exposed in that country (Mathie, Huey, Jurgens, Welsch, DeVito, Talekar, Porotto,2015). Risk in managing the disease from spreading To stop the disease from spreading certain steps need to be taken like- to vaccine the children at the right moment, not to bring your little born with the contact of measles affected people, not to bring a severely ill person with the contact to affected person. Risk of transferring the disease to Health Care Workers Health care workers (HCW) should take certain preventions so that they do not get affected by measles. All the workers should be vaccinated so that they are not affected while taking care of those people who are suffering from this disease. HCW should have so much potential enough so that they can treat the infected person directly without getting infected himself. HCW should not share are same air with the infectious people not more than 2 hours at a stretch especially in a closed area. HCW who have got infected while serving should immediately be removed from the work for at least 4 days until the virus is omitted from his body (Thompson, Strebel, Dabbagh Cherian, Cochi, 2013). Hepatitis B is both critical and chronic. The critical case takes maximum 6 months to badly infect the affected person. Symptoms of this disease are nausea, vomiting etc. Patients suffering from disease suffers mental confusion, coma, gastrointestinal bleeding. If the person is suffering from hepatitis B or not can be known by testing HBsAg, anti- HBc, anti HBs. The symptoms take around 3 months to spread within the person. This disease is common in Australia and around 100,000 people are undiagnosed from this disease and around one- fifth of them are under treatment and this shows that a lot of responsibility needs to be taken. All infants should be vaccinated with hepatitis B during the initial days of their birth (Sullivan, Carballo-Diguez, Coates, Goodreau, McGowan, Sanders, Sanchez, 2012). In US, by 2009 more than 3000 cases are of acute hepatitis B. Mainly people getting affected by this disease are not reported .People getting infected by this disease by coming in simple contact is normally low because this is blood borne and sexually transmitted virus. Around 45% of people lives in highly effected area of HIV (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC. 2011). Risk of transferring the disease to Health Care Workers While transferring blood from one person to another, health workers should keep in mind that those bloods are highly infectious. They should take barriers like using gloves, mask, goggles etc and immediately wash their hands and skin before coming in contact with any other bloody fluids (Heffron, Donnell, Rees, Celum, Mugo, Were, Partners in Prevention HSV/HIV Transmission Study Team.2012). Risk in managing the disease from spreading As HIV is spread mainly though sex so special care should be taken by using condoms so that it does not spread to any other person. When a person comes to know about his HIV then immediately he should contact with the doctor and gets treated and also motivate your partners to do so. Many drugs which is mainly given by injecting can transfer HIV. Drugs like cocaine, alcohol can lower your immune system and can infect a person by HIV (Yahaya, Jimoh, Balogun, 2014). Comparison and Contrast Measles and Hepatitis B both the diseases are extremely infectious disease. A person can die if they are suffering from any one of these two. Both the diseases are very different from each other. There symptoms are totally different. Symptoms of measles are cough and cold, sore throat, whereas symptoms of hepatitis B are nausea and vomiting. Measles can be prevented by taking the vaccination and hepatitis B can be prevented by using condoms and consulting the doctor. References Maltezou, H. C., Wicker, S. (2013).
